Brahma Sri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar

Founder, Ullagaram Vijaya Ganapathy Temple

Profile

Late Brahma Sri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar is a composer of Tamil Kirtanas and "Stotras". For more than 30 years, he  performed "Radha Kalyanam","Seetha Kalyanam" in Sampradaya Hari Bhajan method in various cities of Tamilnadu, Kerala and North India.
"Sampradaya Hari Bhajan" was started by Brahma Sri Sadguru Swamigal of MarudaNallur about 200 years ago and recently propagated by Brahma Sri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar ( Appa) of PuduKottai, Poojya Sri Haridoss Giri and Brahma Sri Krishna Premi Anna.

Brahma Sri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar was born at ThalaiGnayiru village of Tanjore district in South India on 9th Dec 1937. He is very closely related to Flute Mali (ThalaiGnayiru Ramaswamy Mahalingam) and Sikkal Leela & Kunjumani ( Flute Sisters). He was attracted by the Bhajans of Pudukottai Sri Appa while he was studying at Oraiyur,Tiruchirapalli which inducted him into Sampradaya Bhajan at that early age.

Life and Works
Sri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar migrated to Chennai in the year 1952 and was later attracted to Sri Arunagiri Nathar's Thirupugazh.  This was the turning point in his life and he became an ardent devotee of Lord Muruga. He composed stotrams on Lord Muruga ( Muruga Nutretu, Aandi Ashtagam, Thiru Vazhipadu, Jaya Jaya Velava Stotram) in Tamil and was blessed by His Holiness Chandra Sekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam and His Holiness Abhinava Vidya Theertha Swamigal of Sringeri Peetam on various occasions. Some of his other notable works are Muruga Namamutham, Sampradaya Hari Hara Putra Bhajanamrutham, Shotasa Ganapathy Stuthi Mala, Andal Thirukalyanam, Bharatha Vamsavali.

Professional Career

Sri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar was working for the Department of Agriculture, Government of Tamilnadu all along and got retired as Senior Administrative Officer on 30th November 1995. During  his tenure, he introduced many novice schemes and executed them with perfection. He has received many appreciations from IAS officers for the same. His concern for detail and innovative ideas has shown up as success stories throughout his career.

Family Background

Brahma Sri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar was a born in a pious family on both father's  and mother's side. His maternal side uncle ( thai maman ) was BrahmaShri. T. Janakiraman who was one of the founders of Murugan Thiruvarut Sangam. His maternal grandfather was a Sri Vidya Upasaka and a devotee of Umbalarcheri Siddhars ( Periya Mottai, Chinna Mottai ). Krithigai Thirupugazh Bhajan was a family tradition.

Murugan Thiruvarut Sangam

On the paternal side, His great grandfather was SreeKrishna Sarma ( Vaidyanathan ) who hailed from Vishnampettai near Tirukattupalli. He was a Krishna bhaktha and took sanyasa in his last days and lived in Koothur Dharma Sastha temple till last breath. He was laid in samadhi near the kaveri river next to the temple. The place of samadhi is only approximately known now.

His paternal grandfather was Shri Gopalakrishna Ganapadigal who lived in uraiyur/malaikottai near Tiruchy. His father Shri Nagaraja Iyer ( Vaidyanathan ) was a station master in railways and did business for a brief period. His untimely death in 1940s led the family to migrate to Chennai in search of livelihood.

Wandering Soul

In Chennai, he did multipe jobs before joining the State government. In those days, his interests moved towards Atheism, Communism, Maoism, Dravidianism as the forbinger of change in the society. The effects of poverty and discrimination in the society affected him and he lost faith in the religious system altogether. He also wandered into other political and religious philosophies ( Christianity, Islam, Buddha/Jain traditions ). But his mind was set in atheism as he needed to feel the presence of God the Almighty on earth which no one could convince him about.

He was like Naren in search of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

Divine Grace of Mahaperiyavaa

In those days, his only soulmate was his maternal cousin Shri.J.Balasubramanian (Balu) who was his uncle's son. His cousin was a well educated engineer and was in a good job (later became Director of SISI ). Shri Gopalakrishna Bagavathar used to travel a lot with him alongside other friends.
The turning point in his life came when he visited Kanchipuram (early 1960) once, with his yet another maternal cousin Balu (may be premedidated by both Balu's) who was a pious brahmin and bhaktha of mahaperiyavaah. He was interested in seeing the temple architecture and his cousin was there for visiting Sankara Mutt primarily. At this point, Shri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar had no religious belief or was agnostic.
On reaching kanchi, his cousin asked him to come with him to Mutt. He immediately rejected. When his cousin suggested that visiting the Mutt and receiving Theertham from  Mahaswami was the reason he was in Kanchi, Bhagavathar was not happy. So they decided to drop him off near the mutt, they would choose their independent ways and then meet later, post lunch.
But fate had a different plan!
When he got off with his cousin near the mutt, his cousin Balu forced him and took him alongside inside the mutt.
Mahaperiyava was performing the madhyana kala pooja and they waited. When periyavaa started giving theertham, after giving it for few people, He dropped the theertha utharini in the pathram and left. The devotees who were waiting to receive the theertham got really upset and were cursing that some papi without the devotion has come in and thats why periyavaa left!!
Immediately, his cousin told him,"You are the reason, I missed the Theertham today!"
Bhagavathar was really angry and told him, "Naana unnoda madathukku varenu sonnaen. Nee thaan enna izhuthundu vantha. Ippa enna Thittara. Periya theertham. Sridhar Hotelukku pona oru lotta neraiya theertham kodupaan!. Neeyum un nambikayyum!!".
His cousin couldn't argue with him and they came out of the Mutt. When they were about to leave, one of the madathu vaideegar came and asked, "Balu nu chennai lernthu vanthirukarathu yaaru?"
Balu identified himself and was told he was called in by Periyavaa. And he was asked to bring his travel partner along with him. They were taken to periyavaa's room which only had a deepam and periyavaa was studying intensely.
Two of them waited there for few minutes. Periyavaa didnt notice ( may be purposefully).
Shri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar was upset again and sounded with his throat to tell periyavaa that he was waiting!!
Mahaperiyavaa looked at him and said the golden words,
"Sridhar Hotelukku poyiruntha lotta theertham kedaichirukkum!!"
Shri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar couldn't believe how mahaperiyavaa got to know what he talked with his cousin personally outside the Mutt. But the next few minutes would be the Golden Minutes for him. Mahaperiyavaa asked them to sit and talked to them. Shri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar was asked questions about his family, current status, job at hand and slowly Mahaperiyavaa made him understand that his God Father is before him. His cousin Balu was happy that he could do something which would change his cousin's life forever.
Mahaperiyavaa spoke in silence to him and the "God's All Seeing Eye" (Sarva Darsi Vimuktatma or alternatively Nethra Deeksha) widened to cover the entire space around him, "Don't be afraid. I am with you. Keep coming regularly."

Mahaperiyavaa showed him the way for his life where he took a job in state government (agriculture department), got married, moved to Ullagaram with some of his relatives, built Vijaya Ganapathy temple, founded Vijaya Ganapathy Mandali, performed 1000s of Radha, Seetha, Valli, Sastha Kalyanam, wrote 2 dozen books on Hindu Religion, Philosophy and Spiritual Methods.
Mahaperiyavaa helped him when he and his team was stuck for money to build the temple. His holiness fixed the Kumbabhishegam date in 1984 just 18 days earlier. Mahaperiyavaa helped him bring Mayilai Guruji Sundararama Swamigal and Minister RM Veerapan for the Kumbabhishegam.

In every step of the way, Mahaperiyavaa was there, His Holiness Jayendra Saraswathi and His Holiness Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal became patrons of the temple for its growth today. From 1980s, Puthu Periyavaa visited the temple many times and opened the temple's Sankara Hall in 1995. On the same day, His Holiness opened the slab marking the Raja Gopuram works for the temple. His Holiness visited the temple few years back when He was still ailing and couldn't travel continuously.

In 1997, when Adambakkam Sankara Kendra was planned to be built, Shri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar arranged for a 108 Brahmacharis led Gayathri Homa and Dwadasa Sudarsana Homam at the Sankara Kendra site. This spearheaded the gigantic initiative and Sankara Kendra got completed. Both the temple and kendra are being run like sister organizations spreading dharmic way of life, religious activities in Ullagaram and Adambakkam today.
His book, "Bharatha Vamsavali" is a treasure for the seekers of this Great Land which merges thousands of paths and spiritual rivers into "The Ocean of Divinity" ( Advaita Sagara, His Holiness Mahaperiyavaa )

Shri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar led a very purposeful, simple and pious life all along after meeting Mahaperiyavaa. His followers, fellow bhagavathas, brothers, sons and daughters would remember him as "NGK","SadhGuru","Torch Holder","God Father" who would leave no stone un-turned in converting their lives to One filled with Bhakthi, Spiritual Ecstasy, An Inward looking mind and above all surrendering themselves to the lotus feet of Mahaperiyavaa.

Shri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar left his mortal coil on Sep 14, 2019 on Sravana Pournamasya day. His works and books would remain an inspiration for spiritual  seekers time to come.

Sahasra Yojana - Satha (Ashtothra Satha) Yojana - Teshaam sahasra yojane avadhanvaani thanmasi - Gayathri with Sri Rudram

Hari Om

Swami Tulsidas elaborates the Divinity of Hanumaan and there is a scientific theory behind those lines. This opens up a new era in the thinking about Bhanu and how we understand it in scientific and metaphysical terms.
Bharatha Vamsavali has to understand & believe that they belong to a clan which thinks logically, scientifically and progressively. Todays kids (and also elders) need to be taught why the hindu traditions are like a garland of flowers of the past and have a thread lining tying the wonderful flowers they see outside.
"Flowers bloom as life is induced into it by the water, the Sun and Moon"
Thus speaks the greatest of hymns, Mantra Pushpam, "Yopam pushpam veda.."

Why is Sun and Moon so important not just from a Terrestrial sense but from a spiritual sense too?
There is an order to it which crosses the boundaries of Human Intelligence.

In the Hanumaan Chaalisa it is said:
'Yug sahastra yojan per Bhanu!
Leelyo taahi madhur phal janu !!"

Some thoughts on the mythological stories, calculations and Swami Thulsidas poem..
Did Thulasidas provide mathematical formulas specifically for distance from earth to sun?
Was he a proponent of Physics?
What is the Sun he is referring to (Sthoola, Sookshma, Gnana Surya)?
Separating fact, fiction and correlation is critical to divine understanding. This is how most of Indian values were lost earlier.
All references to Sun should be first considered metaphysical, The Gnana Guru (Refer to Shiro Thanvath Pradesae of Vishnu Sahasranamam and Vishnu Puran).

Already millennium generation and generation next is confused enough. When we state scientifically proven facts, we have to be careful enough.
At the same time, in the tradition of vedas, analysing and researching the facts and questioning are essential to remove ignorance and its effect on society.

Sahasra Yojana is there in Sree Rudram first. (Please see Rudram poems talking about requesting Rudra alias Vishnu to keep the weapons of Bootha Ganas 1000 yojanas away which is very detailed and is already metaphysical. This is also followed by intense Ayam Mae Hasto Bhagawan and Thrayambagam poems). So, by time period, it even surpasses Hanuman, historically. Maybe we should research more.
The metaphysical or may be interstellar meaning of Sahasra yojana theory needs more physical theories and mathematical calculations.
Probably a book for above Poems alone. Referring to an easy explanation from the scripture which is unbiased.

Let’s now Ideate objectively. And, please bear with me for any errors.
And I feel these correlates to a remarkable film taken in our times.
And also, "Contact" by Carl Sagan, a great astrophysicist of last century. This is also available as a movie.

If there are cosmic beings out here and there in space, whom we can or want to call Gods, they wouldn't be happy with what humans are doing to planet earth.
So, the Sun that Hanuman, Krishna, Sankara and the Vedas (also Prophet Muhammad, Jesus Christ) are talking about is The Gnana Guru, Adishwar, Adi Yogi, Siva, Rudra, Vishnu ( or Allah, Holy Father).

Is there a cosmic or stellar place where a Superhuman who was like us once/ever resides? Are these people referring to him here?
We are in the verge of destruction of nature, selfishness and vandalism in last 100 years.
Would they take action, punish or cleanup?
Will they show mercy and mend us?
We need to think. A lot.
Is Gayathri mantra talking about the Inner Sun or the Gnana Surya or the Physical Sun (The star) which we propitiate for our life on this earth? what are the three worlds referred in gayathri (Boo, Buva, Suva)? Does it refer to the 7 worlds between here and The Supreme soul if one exists? Why should we cross them? How do we cross them? In vishnu sahasranama, when the "threen-logaan vyapya bootatma" is mentioned it is not talking about the 7 worlds. It talks about the 3 worlds of which we are already part of and controlled by. That is why when we have to do any prayachittam, specifically not performing the activities for crossing the 3 worlds, we are referring to the 7 worlds instead of 3. Why the 3 worlds are separated from 7? Is it because the 3 carnal sins - Ego, Covetedness and Facade (Anavam, Kanmam, Mayai from Saiva siddantam ) are invisible here because of the attachment ( runanu bandha ) collected over births?

Sahasra Yojana as a Physical Theory – An Approximation
*****************************************************************

Why 108 and 1008 is important in Indian Traditions?
This is explained by many theorists/researchers at a higher plane, but let’s come bit lower. Recently, got to know a very important equation related to this.
Values are approximate below...
Diameter of Earth = 12,742 km
Diameter of Moon = 3,474 km
Diameter of Sun = 1.392 million km
Distance from Sun to Earth = 149.6 million km
Distance from Moon to Earth = 384,400 km
Diameter of Sun/Diameter of Earth = 109.245
Distance from Sun to Earth/Diameter of Sun= 107.47
Distance from Moon to Earth/Diameter of Moon= 110.65
Please remember even the values given above approximates. The early vedantists/scientists found that all these point to an approximation of 108.
"On Anuradha, with the athi deva Mitra, if we give an offering, it will grow and prosper for 108 years well guarded" says the Vedas or Homa preamble. This is as per his order.
But why?
I will theorize now. This is related to Subrahmanya Srushti. Go back to the story when Brahma did not how to create a living being (properly) and created them incorrect. Subrahmanya said this is not according to Pranava Roopa or theory. Change is not internalized in these living beings, He says, and takes over as Brahma. And then, everything became fine.
There was a time when solar system didn't have life or life proper or had it irregular. The celestial spirits or super humans considered this is mundane and thought that this will not help life to prosper and grow. They wanted to mutate us. Earth probably didn't have a moon that time!! or was in a wrong position.
The moon and all the above positions you saw above were fixed to create life or improve life. The super human who controls 108 worlds wanted this world to be in their order and effected His rule here and His wisdom here.
This is theory.
But, is it not there in every story told here in Indian/ancient/world traditions?
He is constantly watching us. He is mutating us. He has fixed things for us. Every religion says so. Every tradition says so.
"Chandrama Manaso Jathaha, Saksho Surya Ajayatha"
"Moon and Mind/Manas is Birth..."
or Re-Birth!!
Taking the first sentence, Man is his Mind (Manas or emotional/logical occult). But Manas points to Chandra. When Manas merges with Chandra that is Rasi and nakshatra (zodiac).
In Indian zodiac (particularly southern), lunar tradition is important.
The person's Rasi or Nakshatra is identified by where moon was at his birth.
The Super Human(s) created a Mind/Manas for us to excel, grow, improve in wisdom, attain bliss by creating a moon linked to it which is linked to Sun and Zodiac in a mathematical proportion.
They wanted us to be remember that this proportion is what is making us excel, allows us to control our Mind/Manas, Buddhi and align ourselves to our occult senses.
May be Hanuman (not the monkey God, but the intelligent spiritual cross-breed of two clans - human and super humans, certainly not human by intelligence), found this or recorded this for us first. And Tulsidas remembers this for us.

Satha (Ashtothra Satha) Yojana or Sahasra Yojana theory and some calculations
********************************************************************************************************
You may counter argue with some my thoughts below. But its better to discuss this than leave it for a later day. Pass it on to our kids who might conclude this effectively for us...
And, please bear with me for any errors.

GC – Galactic Center of Milky Way
SS – Our Solar system
CG - Center of Milky Way galaxy (approximate)
Distance of GC from SS
27000 light years / 255 zillion km / 24–28.4 kilolight-years / 2.5544e+17 years

Basic Assumptions (values are approximate)
Distance of GC from SS - 255 zillion km
CG - Center of galaxy 1.2 zillion km
Diameter of solar system - 287 billion km (Note -This is a scientific estimate /approximation)
Approximation 1:
Distance of GC from SS - 255 zillion km
CG - Center of galaxy 1.2 zillion km (Galactic Nuclues)
=212.5 ~ 216 = 2 * 108
Approximation 2:
GC - SS - 8000 parsecs
CG - 40 parsecs
Sagittarius A - Radio source - 80 parsec
=200 ~ 216 = 2 * 108
=100 ~ 108 ( for 80 parsec size )
Note: Why its is 2 and not 1 has to do with 2 Bhanus in consideration?. Also, if we consider the Sagittarius A as the circumference it ends up near 108. Why Sagittarius A is explained later and in references below in comments.
"On Anuradha, with the athi deva Mitra, if we give an offering, it will grow and prosper for 108 years well guarded" says the Vedas or Homa preamble. This is as per his order.
8 is the directional compound or spatial factor

Calculation for Galaxial Bhanu / Sura Bhanu - Approximation in Billion kms
******************************************************************************
1 yuga - 108 or 110.181
1 sahasra - 1008
1 surya yojana - 287 km * 8
Distance of GC from SS
255,000,000
Calculation for Galaxial Bhanu / Sura Bhanu - Approximation in Kms
*****************************************************************************
1 yuga - 108 Deva years or 110.181
1 sahasra - 1008
1 surya yojana - 287,000,000,000 km * 8
Distance of GC from SS
249,951,744,000,000,000 ~ 255,000,000,000,000,000
Essence of calculation is as below. Each number (1008, 8) has a metaphysical significance.
255,000,000,000,000,000
Divided by
(1008*287*8)
110.181 ~ 108
Below are assumptions and approximates and can be improved further to derive better clarity.
SS diameter approx - 287,000,000,000
Distance of GC from SS approx. - 255,000,000,000,000,000

Calculation for Pratyaksha Bhanu / Vrusha Bhanu - Approximation in Kms
************************************************************************************
1 yuga - 108,000 Manushya years (Maha Chatur yuga is 432,000 as per Brahma Shri N.Gopalakrishnan and correlate with Aryabhatta)
1 sahasra – 108 (Please bear with this)
1 manushya yojana - 1 mile / 1.6 km * 8 = 12.8 km
Distance from sun to earth
=149 million km
Note – Alternatively, below calculation looks wrong if we use 1008 for Sahasra. This has to be studied further for any errors. for e.g. ( 108 is to 3 worlds, 1008 is to 7 worlds, as in gayathri vs pranayamam, 3 and 7 worlds referred ). This means humans who are bonded by 3 malas ( anavam, kanmam and mayai) need to cross 3 worlds first. Some can reach 7 worlds by additional practices.
1 yuga – 11,548/12000 Manushya years (Chatur yuga is 46,192)
1 sahasra - 1008
1 manushya yojana - 1 mile / 1.6 km * 8 = 12.8 km

Hanuman – Born in Moola Nakshatram
********************************************
Moolam is in Saggitarius/ Dhanus Rasi
Saggitarius A is in/near GC (galactic center of Milky Way). Also, Scorpio or Vrischika Rasi is near GC
(Diameter of Black Hole of GC - 44,000,000 kilometers / 44 million km and needs to be studied later)
27000 light years ~ 30000 light years - 30000 years in one manvantara ( as per Brahma Shri NGK ) * 14 = 432000 years (Maha Chatur yuga)
This is the time light takes to reach GC or reverse. Any information which has to be seen is 30000 years old either ways. This time period also corresponds to two other periods/cycles - Retrograde of solstices & equinoxes and change of the north star or dhruva nakshatra. Equinox and Solstice interchange once in ~30000 years. Also, North star changes likewise. The last North star change happened 15000 years earlier during the time of Meenakshi & Sundaresar and will change in another 13000-15000 years from now.
Black hole in GC / Center of galaxy is Sura Bhanu / Galactical Vishnu (Black, primordial soup from which star systems emanate, plunge into and has a star factory)
Galactical Bhanu / Sura Bhanu (Grand Father of Radha from mythology)
Pratyaksha Bhanu is what we see visually (present in one elliptical center). Also, Sookshma/Gnana Bhanu for our solar system / Vrusha Bhanu (Father of Radha from mythology) is in the other elliptical center which is always hidden from us, physically.
They are fixed in opposite rasi/constellation always for our calculations. The pournami based lunar months are actually pointing to the Sookshma / Gnana Bhanu / Vrusha Bhanu for our solar system in zodiac.

Hanuman has/might have found the above theory/calculation and recorded it again. He is born again and again in different forms to transform monkeys to Devas .
This tallies greatly with Brahma Shri. N. Gopalakrishnan’s theory that Hanuman is not monkey faced. But, He understands the monkeys and where we came from. Also, the human species better!!! (we are sophisticated monkeys).

He found the scientific truth of sahasra yojana from vedas, travelled the cosmos, met the prajapathi and taught us ways by which majority of Humans/Sociable monkeys can liberate!
